The John Cardinal O’Connor School follows Common Core Learning Standards and is aligned with Archdiocesan curricular guidelines for each subject area. The curriculum is differentiated to meet students’ learning needs while using multisensory instruction: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modalities simultaneously to strengthen associations and memory.
Strategies for writing, including outlines and paragraphs, are dependent upon the student’s instructional level and ability, and begin with either one paragraph quick outlines or multiple-paragraph outlines. These outlines are used consistently across the curriculum so that students become adept at using outlines whenever they are required to organize their thoughts for writing.
